Review: With Good Friends by stacking pennies

Timothy O’Brien reviews the latest stacking pennies album, with good friends

Stacking pennies hits us hard this spring with the new guitar-infused psychedelic album with good friends.

The album starts with a powerful psych-rock opener “Revelation”, and sets the stage for the subliminal melancholic album that is with good friends.

Combining otherworldly sounds of lush calm, and gentle synths on the tracks, “Find Your Way Back Again” and “Stars in the Cold Breeze'' with the shoegaze guitar-heavy tracks, “Pretender” and “Vertigo”. The guitars and synths meld together and fuse with the steady drum patterns that create a wall of sound that moves right through your brain to leave a lasting groove pulsing long after the music ends.

The album culminates in the beautifully haunting track, “The Warm Sun on your Smiling Face” that leaves listeners with a sonic impression, saying everything it needs to about the album in a short three-minute instrumental track.

This album is perfect for lazy sunshine days, and long aimless car rides when the stress of life is too much. Add this album to your favorite playlist and follow the band on social media so you don’t miss any tour dates or future projects.
